Larry H. FloodMay 4, 1949 ~ December 3, 2017 (age 68)
Larry H. Flood, 68, passed away suddenly at home after a brief illness on Dec. 3, 2017. He was born in Lyndon, Vt., and spent his life in this area except for the years he was in the service which included a tour in Vietnam.
Shortly after his return, he married Marie (Richard); they would have been married 46 years later this month. He leaves behind his wife, two children and their families: Shelly and Ryan Noyes of Kirby, Vt., and Jason and Sarah Flood of Williamsburg, Va.; his grandchildren: Delaney and Lucas Noyes, and Kaleah, Rowen and Annelle Flood. They were the source of much joy and happiness; he was one of their biggest fans. He is also survived by his immediate family and their spouses: Kayleen and Merwin Stowell, Marilee and Rodney Ruggles, Judy Gilman, whose husband William predeceased her and Terry and Jane Flood. Also surviving him are his brothers- and sisters-in-law Rejean and Francoise Richard, and Gilles and Kim Richard. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Larry was a well-known businessman working in concrete construction and later in sand production. Later in life, he acquired a love for horse pulling and looked forward to taking his Belgians to Maine for pulling contests. Even more than the actual horse pulling, he enjoyed working, exercising and caring for these powerful and gentle creatures and spending time with his many horse pulling friends.
A remembrance service will be held at the VFW, in Lyndonville on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. followed by visiting hours from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Light fare will be served.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the The Hooved Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 258, Chelsea, VT 05038, http://hooved.org/donationpage.html as he believed all animals, large or small, should be treated with kindness and love.
