Celebrant Services

CELEBRANT SERVICES

Our celebrant meets with families to gather stories, share memories, anecdotes and special moments in your loved one’s life, and then prepares a personal eulogy that incorporates those unique stories and experiences that defined your loved one. They also consult with families to help design a service that best reflects and memorializes the life of your loved one, weaving your choice of music, photos, readings, personal mementos, and unique ceremonies into a service of tribute to a life lived.

What is a celebrant?

A Funeral Celebrant is a person who is trained and experienced in meeting the needs of families during their time of loss. A celebrant serves by providing a funeral service that is personalized to reflect the personality and lifestyle of the deceased while also helping you take the next steps in your grief.

Who needs a celebrant?

  • Families who want a unique, personalized service
  • Families who want a life tribute experience the evening before a liturgical service
  • Families who do not have a minister or church affiliation
  • Families who identify themselves as "Spiritual but not Religious"

Meet our celebrant

Robert Little began working for Caledonia Life Services as a Stone Installer in 2020, became a Funeral Associate in 2022, and started full-time in 2023 as a Funeral Director Apprentice and Manager of Guest Memorials. He also serves families as our in-house funeral celebrant. Robert was born and raised in Burlington, VT and moved to St. Johnsbury in 2019. He fell in love with the NEK and enjoys serving people in this area.

Prior to joining CLS full-time, Robert served as Director of Community Development at RuralEdge, an affordable housing corporation serving the Northeast Kingdom, where he oversaw resident services, community engagement, and communications. He continues to work at RuralEdge part time in communications. He also serves as an on-call chaplain at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH). He previously spent a decade in a variety of ecclesial ministries throughout New England.

Robert is dedicated to serving our community, serving on the Boards of the Housing & Homelessness Alliance of Vermont and Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA). He is also a member of Lyndon’s Planning Commission, as well as the Community Relations Committee of NVRH. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from St. John’s Seminary in Boston and a B.A. in Philosophy from Providence College.

Robert lives in Lyndonville with his wife Liz and their two (soon to be three!) children.
